Saturday March 27th

“TAKE BACK YOUR LIFE!”

WVON to present ground breaking women’s retreat series featuring author and media personality Dr. Iyanla Vanzant.

On Saturday, March 27th, WVON will join forces with the Black McDonald’s Owners Association, Compass Personal Development Company for Women and a list of other sponsors to host the very first “Take Back Your Life, Mind Body & Soul” women’s retreat. The event, which will take place at the Double Tree Oak Brook Hotel beginning at 8:00 a.m., will unite women throughout the Chicagoland area for a day of enlightenment, renewal and empowerment.

Featured guests will be Sherri Franklin, a noted intuitive coach from Chicago; Kim Fulcher, founder of Compass; author and metaphysician Dr. Diedre Burrell and former HSN host turned life coach British Ford.

Keynoting the event luncheon will be Chicago’s own Michelle McKinney Hammond who is best known for her “DIVA Principle” book and workshop series. She is also a long-time media personality.

The event’s featured speaker will be world-renowned lecturer, author and TV personality Dr. Iyanla Vanzant.

“What’s unique about the ‘Take Back Your Life’ women’s retreat is that it is a series of three events that will focus on the most important aspects of our lives including relationships, spirituality, money and tapping into our own power,” said Latrice Levitt, the event’s organizer.

Two additional events are scheduled for later this year and will feature other powerful women such as R & B legend Chaka Kahn. “Our lives are so complex, there is no way we could achieve the level of empowerment we want in just one day,” Levitt said. She is working with Radio station WVON to present the retreat series which will be an annual event.

More than 300 women are expected to attend the “Take Back Your Life” women’s retreat. “This event promises to connect each and every participant and give them real strategies which will empower them to take their lives to the next level,” Levitt added.

Tickets for this event can be purchased online at www.WVON.com.

Media partners for the “Take Back Your Life” Women’s retreat include NBC5, CBS2, Today’s Chicago Woman Magazine and My50Chicago’s Perspective.

SLAVE

SYNDROME

Dr. Joy DeGruy, an internationally renowned lecturer, Author, and Professor delivers a powerful, insightful, undeniable truthful lecture on trans-generational trauma!

……..Many black and white Americans have been taught that slavery ended by legislative means in 1865- so the issue is neatly side-stepped in school curricula, print and broadcast media.  However, the hallmark of classroom teaching and responsible journalism must be proper context – for full understanding.  The removal of the slave shackle is important, but what about the emotional damage suffered by the enslaved?.....Gil Noble, Producer, Like it is WABC-TV (Book: Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome, Dr. Joy DeGruy)

*What do repeated traumas visited upon generation after generation of a people produce?

*What are the impacts of the ordeals associated with chattel slavery produce, and with the institutions that followed, on African Americans Today?

This lecture is greatly beneficial to: Sociologist, Educators, Scientists, Psychiatrist, Psychologists, Medical Doctors, Naturopaths, Historians, Clergy, Students, Healers and anyone who is interested in healing and freedom!
